As the cast of the original and beloved Daredevil series make their long-awaited return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again, it has now been revealed they will be joined by a new and terrifying face. The original series, which ran for three seasons, starred Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil. Joined by his colleagues Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), the trio spend their days bringing down Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) through Hell’s Kitchen’s corrupt legal system, while Murdock spends his nights prowling the city’s rooftops, beating up Kingpin’s henchmen. D’Onofrio’s towering villain is returning to the show’s Disney+ reboot, but he won’t be the only villain Daredevil will have to contend with.
During Marvel Studio’s presentation at D23, some sneak peek footage of the new show, which debuts in 2025, was unveiled. As well as giving fans their first official look at Matt Murdock’s new suit, the footage teased a fan-favorite villain from the comics, Muse. Sporting his comic-accurate suit, the terrifying serial killer made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance in the clip. Celebrating the character’s live action debut, Charles Soule (the creator of Muse), took to X, praising Marvel Studios for giving the character his comic book accurate costume. Check out what he had to say and our first look at live-action Muse below.
Who Is Muse in Daredevil: Born Again?
The original Daredevil series took Marvel down a much darker path than the company had ever ventured before. With a TV-MA rating, the series featured graphic violence and dark themes. Even among the gruesome deaths in Daredevil, that universe couldn’t have handled the sadistic brutality of Muse. First introduced to Marvel Comics in 2016, Muse is a deranged serial killer and ‘artist.’ The character rose to infamy in Hell’s Kitchen when his first work of art was discovered. Muse created a mural, painted from the blood of over a hundred people who were reported missing.

The fight scenes in Daredevil: Born Again will maintain a fan-favorite element from the Netflix series…
Sporting a white suit and mask, with blood dripping down from the eyes, Muse is as calculated as he is maniacal. Throughout his murderous rampage in Hell’s Kitchen, Muse created various murals and dioramas using the body parts and blood from his victims. When Daredevil first confronts Muse, the serial killer broke his own fingers to show the vigilante that his particular set of skills would be no use in stopping him, before managing to escape.
But Muse isn’t just a psychotic killer, he’s also superhuman. While much of the character’s backstory is shrouded in mystery, he has the strength to rip apart his victim’s bodies with his bare hands, meaning Muse has some level of super-human strength. The character is also an adept martial artist, able to go blow-for-blow with Daredevil.
Despite streaming on Disney+, Daredevil: Born Again has been described as having a darker tone than the original series. Muse’s involvement both confirms this, and leaves audiences who know about the character anxious about how graphic the villain’s ‘artwork’ will be when depicted on screen. If nothing else, he will certainly be Daredevil’s biggest challenge yet.
