On Sunday, Nov. 17, the actor, 56, attended the at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and hinted that the next James Bond “might be” in the room.
“Let’s just get something out of the way,” Craig said while introducing Bond producers and Michael G. Wilson, who were honored with the the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.
“If you came here this evening to find out who the next James Bond is, don’t look at me, but he might be in the room. I’m just joking. Maybe I’m not,” he added.
Craig, who played Bond in Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and (2021), revealed earlier this month that he who plays the next Bond, while talking to .
The producers behind the franchise are also still working on creating a new future for the world’s most famous spy.

Speaking to the ahead of the awards, Wilson, 82, and Broccoli, 64, said casting a new Bond was “a big decision.”
“Every time we cast a new actor, the films change. It’s the excitement of a new Bond, a new direction,” Wilson added. “Every one of these people who took on the role offered something new and different.”
As usual, they won’t be short of willing candidates. Kicking off the night, actor Colman Domingo jokingly pitched himself to Broccoli and Wilson for a role. “I know that there’s a list of phenomenal, handsome, athletic, suave and debonair actors vying to be the next James Bond,” said Domingo.
“Now if you’re thinking of me, I don’t know what to tell you: Bond or Bond villain? You decide…I will leave my headshots on your table,” he added.

On Sunday, siblings Broccoli and Wilson, who run the production company behind the decades-old British spy franchise, accepted the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.
The award is presented annually “to creative producers whose body of work reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture production,” according to an by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences made on June 12.

The award has only been handed out 39 times since it was created in 1939, according to the AP. Broccoli is also just the second woman to receive this particular award, after Lucasfilm’s president received it in 2018.
“It’s very humbling,” Broccoli told the AP of the honor. “I think of so many people who have come before us, so many people I wish had been given the honor who aren’t with us anymore.”
Broccoli also noted to the outlet that her father Albert “Cubby” Broccoli received the same award at the 1982 Oscars, stating that his Oscars statuette “was the most important physical possession he had.”
Other figures honored at the 2024 Governors Awards included the late , who on Nov. 3, casting director Juliet Taylor and filmmaker .
