In a new interview with Hayley Leggs of TotalRock, Cradle of Filth frontman Dani Filth confirmed that the band’s new album featuring Ed Sheeran is now complete.
The singer said the following about the forthcoming record:
“The new single will come out at the beginning of October prior to our European tour… So, yeah, new single prior to the album that’s coming out — I’m going to say end of February, but I’d be lying. ‘Cause I’ve got no idea. But it’s around that time.”
Filth’s Previous Words On The Record
In May, Filth updated Australia’s Heavy on the recording progress of Cradle of Filth’s new album following 2021’s ‘Existence Is Futile.’ The singer noted:
“We’ve already done our [collaborative] track with Ed Sheeran, although that’ll be probably coming out on the special edition of the new album, but I can’t really talk much more about that, all legalities and what have you. We should be dropping a new single, actually, around the time of the Australian tour [in September 2024], maybe a little bit later… [The single] should be [out] probably about the same time, with the album being dropped around March next year.”
He added:
“The album we started last July, and our record company was, like, ‘Why are you taking so long?’ It’s, like, ‘Well, because we’re on tour.’ We started the album [and then] we literally went off on tour for two months. So, yeah, we’ve been very, very busy.”
Cradle Of Filth Is Not Using Sheeran’s Fame
In another interview, Dani explained why the band hasn’t released the song yet, despite promoting it for a while. Filth mentioned there’s a specific reason for the delay in their collaboration with Sheeran:
“There’s a reasoning behind that but it’s not going to delay the inevitable. It’s a great song anyway and it just keeps people guessing at a little bit longer, but it also shows that we’re not using it as a vehicle for the record which I was very keen to stress that yeah he’s one of the biggest artists in the world and yes we’ve done a thing with him, yes everybody’s very curious about it.”
Sheeran and Filth’s unexpected collaboration began when Sheeran invited Filth to his home in the summer of 2021 to create music together. Despite their different styles, they started working on a track. However, Sheeran’s focus shifted after the birth of his new baby. Filth clarified that their musical differences actually make their collaboration more exciting and fun.
