Courtney Love thinks Kurt Cobain is the reason people don’t like her.
In a new interview with the UK publication Evening Standard, the former Hole singer stated:
“People used to say that I was so difficult. They said I was disagreeable. Yes, I am completely disagreeable and I’m never going to apologize for that. I always wanted to be known as a b*tch. Being liked was never my thing. Kurt wanted to be liked but not me.”
The Hate Against Her Increased After Kurt’s Death
Then, she discussed the aftermath of Cobain’s passing:
“He was able to hide behind me, but then I got hated. Then Kurt died, and the hatred towards me reached a completely new level. I did not plan for that.”
Cobain died in April 1994 at 27 by suicide. Since then, many have blamed Courtney for his death. Previously in 2021, Love shared some hate comments about her and her decision to step back from social media, writing on Instagram:
“All we need is love. Taking time off social media.”
Courtney Blames Someone For Cobain’s Passing
According to Courtney, journalist Lynn Hirschberg is guilty of Cobain’s death. In 1992, Vanity Fair printed an article called ‘Strange Love’ by Hirschberg. It caused a big fuss because it talked about Love using drugs. The article said she kept using drugs even though she was pregnant. In an earlier interview with TheFix.com, the singer said:
“As a writer, wouldn’t it be your worst nightmare if you drove someone to suicide? I hope so. Because that’s what Lynn Hirschberg did to Kurt, all right? She humiliated and emasculated him. She sent him over the edge. She deserves most of the blame for his death. Do you really want to challenge me on that fact?”
Besides what it was like for her after Kurt’s death, Courtney also criticized some artists in the same interview. Her main targets were Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Beyoncé. The rocker disclosed she doesn’t like the music of Beyoncé and doesn’t find Swift ‘interesting’ as an artist. Love also stopped liking Lana when she sang a John Denver song.
