Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante has been accused of being held back by her bandmates. The singer took to X to address the matter.
“Courtney LaPlante is being held back by a mediocre band ensemble. One guitarist (her husband) who is capable of power chords and offers little variation or complexity in his parts, a drummer who is mediocre by all accounts, etc. they need another layer; another guitarist at least,” a user shared their ‘hot take’ about the Spiritbox singer.
LaPlante sarcastically responded: “Don’t be mean to the guy, he is entitled to his opinion, just isn’t into our music and anyone is entitled to agree or disagree! But I will say, do you know who thinks Michael and Zev are amazing and technical musicians? Other amazing and technical musicians lol.”
Speaking of bandmates, the band’s former bassist Bill Crook passed away on July 24.
“I’m so profoundly sad to say that our dear friend Bill Crook has passed away,” Crook’s Textbook Tragedy bandmate Kai Brook wrote on Instagram. “He was a friend to so many, and a dear friend to me since we were children.”
He was Spiritbox’s live bassist from 2018 to 2022 and contributed vocals to the band’s breakout 2021 album, ‘Eternal Blue.’
Recently, Crook had been working on new music with producer and Underoath drummer-vocalist Aaron Gillespie. His last update from the studio was an Instagram video posted on July 7th.
Spiritbox announced their 2025 European headline tour support. The band will be joined by Stray From The Path and Periphery. They are set to start on February 13.
