Courtney LaPlante took to X to pay tribute to his former bandmate Bill Crook after his sudden death.
The Spiritbox singer just shared a photo with Crook but wrote nothing in the caption. Musician Kai Turmann confirmed the news of Bill’s passing on social media. He was a friend and bandmate of Cook’s and said Bill’s mother asked him to share the news of his death. He wrote in his post:
“Hi everyone. I have some absolutely devastating news to share. I’m so profoundly sad to say that our dear friend Bill Crook has passed away. He was a friend to so many, and a dear friend to me since we were children. Bill was, and is, loved by so many people and I’m so incredibly sorry to have to share this devastating information with you. There will be many words and many tears, but for now, I just need to get the terrible news out. I’m so sorry. I love you all. I love you, Bill.”
Crook Had Left Spiritbox Two Years Ago
The cause of death has not been revealed yet. Crook was with Spiritbox from 2018 to 2022 and played on their debut album, ‘Eternal Blue.’ He left the band in May 2022, and Spiritbox said it was a mutual decision with no hard feelings. The band wrote at the time:
“We are saddened to announce that Bill Crook will no longer be in Spiritbox. This decision was mutual and with no hard feelings. We ask that you respect his privacy on the matter and we wish him nothing but the best in the future. We would like to thank Josh Gilbert for giving us his time on such short notice to fill in with us.”
In his last social media post before he died, Crook hinted he was working on new music with Aaron Gillespie from Underoath. He shared a video of their recording session and thanked Gillespie for helping with the new songs. Spiritbox’s Mike Stringer also paid tribute to Crook on social media, posting a photo with him.
