Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante just admitted that their songs have ‘weird sh*t’ in them that no one notices.
The singer took to X to reply to a fan comment about their song ‘Cellar Door.’ The fan shared a snippet of the breakdown of the song. The track had just the eerie-sounding parts, vocals, and no instruments. The fan wrote:
“Besties, did y’all bring back the self-titled era elements (a literal Spiritbox) during this breakdown of ‘Cellar Door?’”
LaPlante responded positively and said all of their songs did have similar sounds:
“All our songs have the weirdest sh*t in the backgrounds that no one ever notices or hears but we swear it subconsciously makes the song more tense/creepy or mystical/pretty.”
A New Album Is Coming
Spiritbox has been putting out something new every single year, and it looks like they will be continuing this tradition this year too.
In an interview with Revolver, LaPlante talked about their 2021 album ‘Eternal Blue’ and their latest EP, ‘The Fear Of Fear.’ She discussed the band’s plans for what might come next. The singer revealed that they might release a new album this year:
“We gotta do it. We’ve been… not holding off, but it’s been really nice to have the instant gratification of putting out music when we’re actually done with it versus creating it and then sitting on it and doing a traditional cycle. But honestly, we want to prove it to ourselves that we can do another album and it’s gonna go well. I thought that having some sort of success in the first one would make me feel like I’ve proved it to myself.”
She added:
“But in fact it’s just made us even more driven and on-edge. Like, we don’t feel comfortable at all. We’re like, ‘We gotta prove ourselves again.’ And it’s weird because it’s not to [critics] or our fans, but surprisingly, it’s still an internal thing. Doing it once isn’t enough; we’ve gotta do it two times.”
The band’s most recent release is the rock version of Megan Thee Stalion’s ‘Cobra.’ You can hear the track down below.
