Before marrying the Slipknot lead singer Corey Taylor, Alicia Taylor was among those teenagers who were banned from listening to Slipknot.
Alicia recently shared a picture of the Slipknot CD she got during her teenage years on X. Her time with Slipknot apparently didn’t last long because she was banned from listening to it. The Cherry Bombs singer wrote in her post:
“My mom found this in a box of my old stuff. I thought she threw it away, but I guess she just hid it from me. Good times.”
When a user asked if her mom called it ‘the devil’s music,’ she responded:
“Oh yes.”
Slipknot’s Claimed To Influence a School Shooting
Slipknot has been accused of writing music related to the devil and Satan. The claims went so far that the band got blamed for inspiring a school shooting.
A schoolboy with a sword killed a 16-year-old and injured others at Nic Diederichs Technical High School. The attacker dressed like the late drummer Joey Jordison, including wearing a similar mask. Senior Superintendent Gerard Labuschagne responded to reports that the boy stabbed another student because he claimed ‘Satan told him to kill the children.’
Later, the head of the South African police’s investigative psychology unit said rumors linking Satanism and music to the attack should not be believed.
Community leader Pierre Eksteen, responsible for a school support network for children, also suggested that ‘Satanic’ music might have been the reason behind the attack:
“He came here camouflaged as the guy from Slipknot. We know the wrong kind of music and drugs have bad effects. Young people need to be informed of the effects of bad Satanic music.”
