Alicia Taylor has shared her thoughts on Linkin Park’s new singer Emily Armstrong.
The singer took to X to respond to the hate the new singer received for ‘replacing Chester Bennington.’
“Emily Armstrong is everything,” the singer wrote. When a user shared the recent Scientology and Danny Masterson incidents, the rocker responded with, “Goddamnit.”
The conversation gained a lot of attraction and many other users started discussing the matter. “Scientologists & Scientology deserves all the criticism, judgement and hatred,” a user added to the comments.
“They do, but I’ve also seen some instances where people were raised within it as children and didn’t have a choice, and may not know anything otherwise,” Taylor responded. “You see some of those people make it out, but others have been brainwashed. Not sure if that’s the situation here, just sad.”
“Well it’s always good to give people the chance to change their ways for the better and see how they go from here,” she finally added about Armstrong’s Instagram statement about the matter, “or if they’ve been misjudged. She sounded great. Hoping things shake out all good for everyone.”
When Linkin Park announced Emily Armstrong as their new lead singer, they got hit with a lot of criticism about her past links to the Church of Scientology and her support for convicted rapist and actor Danny Masterson. On September 6, Armstrong finally spoke up about the backlash in a social media statement.
“Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty. To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes,” she said in her statement.
Linkin Park announced their comeback on Thursday night with a performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. It was their first show together since the tribute concert for Chester Bennington in October 2017. The new lineup with Armstrong and new drummer Colin Brittain will kick off a six-city international tour this month before dropping their new album, ‘From Zero,’ in November.
