During a new episode of Hot Ones Versus, Corey Taylor named Limp Bizkit as his top rock feud.
“I love that this is coming up as I’m doing all this work on myself,” the singer said when asked to rank his feuds with Limp Bizkit, Nickelback, and Machine Gun Kelly from worst to best. “If I were to answer with my current self, I would say that a lot of things that I said were based off of my own ego, my own insecurities, my own arrogance.”
Taylor continued, “If I were to say that with that ugly ego, I would say at the top I would put Limp Bizkit. Because, creatively, there are so many factors to that band that show and have been explored.”
“And my issues truly weren’t even with Limp Bizkit. They were with Fred [Durst],” Corey further explained. “It wasn’t about the band, it was just about what Fred represented at the time, the things that were being said, and the people in the band that were actually saying things about us.”
The rocker also talked about his feud with MGK, “I would put MGK in the middle. Before the beef, I did have respect for him and I liked his music. We butted heads ego-wise and creatively because of a song that he and Travis [Barker] invited me to be on. He and me are very similar and I hope he’s figuring sh*t out because I know he’s been through some dark sh*t.”
“I’ll put Nickelback last,” Taylor lastly added of Nickelback. “Because, honestly, they’re just a musical echo. It’s just the same thing.”
Slipknot and Limp Bizkit clashed in the early 2000s. Their conflict came to a head in February 2000 after Durst allegedly made a comment in 1999, saying, “Slipknot fans are a bunch of fat, ugly kids.”
The statement spread quickly and reached Taylor. While promoting their tour in Australia, Taylor, along with drummer Joey Jordison and percussionist Shawn Crahan, took questions from fans. One fan asked about Limp Bizkit and if there was a rivalry.
Corey replied, “You would have to ask the Limp Bizkit question… You know what I had to say to that?” he asked before saying, “Fred Durst is fat!” The singer continued, “I’m a fat, ugly kid, and Slipknot fans, for the most part, enjoy all kinds of music, like Limp Bizkit, maybe. So what you’re basically saying is that your fans are fat, ugly kids too? You wanna talk sh*t on the people you care about?! WE WILL COME THERE AND WE WILL KILL YOU!”
Over the years, things have improved between Taylor and Durst. In 2011, Taylor mentioned that Durst is just a person and even took a photo with his kids, who liked Slipknot. By 2016, they were sharing selfies together on Facebook.
