Corey Taylor had to cancel not one, but two shows.
The Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman had to cancel two festival shows because he’s ‘really sick’ with an unspecified illness. On June 12, the rocker announced on social media that he wouldn’t be able to perform at the Rock For People festival in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic, as planned. He wrote:
“To my friends and family in the Czech Republic – I am sorry to say that I woke up very sick today and as a result of this I will not be able to perform at Rock For People festival. The health and safety of my band and crew is always our first priority on the road and I do not want to cause further issues by trying to perform today. I am truly sorry to everyone who was looking forward to this performance at Rock For People and I promise I will return and make it up to you.”
On June 13th, Taylor confirmed in a new statement that his performance at the Nova Rock Festival had also been canceled:
“To my friends in Austria – Due to ongoing sickness, I will be cancelling my performance at Nova Rock Festival. I am deeply sorry to have to cancel another performance, but my priority remains keeping our band and crew healthy while doing everything I can to rest and heal. I hope to see my Austrian friends again very soon when I can give them the performance they deserve.”
Fan Concerns Over Taylor’s Health
Many fans commented under both of the statements and voiced their concerns. One user said:
“Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with Corey? I’m concerned.”
One said he has been doing ‘too much’:
“He’s doing too much… needs to concentrate on Slipknot in my opinion.”
Another said they saw it coming:
“I saw him 3 nights ago and he said he could feel his voice going.”
Throughout 2024, the frontman has canceled many shows and even tours due to both physical and mental health issues. While this time it’s related to physical health, the rocker hasn’t shared specific details about the reasons behind it.
Taylor’s next planned gig is at the Opus Stage during the Download Festival on Sunday night, June 16th.
