Corey Feldman links the negativity about his guitar playing to a hate campaign that started when he spoke out about the abuse he suffered as a child actor.
“To be honest, it comes from a hate campaign that started probably about the time I decided to come forward with some of the information about the bad things that happened to me as a kid,” the musician told Guitar World in a recent interview.
Feldman added, “The timing was right when my music started blowing up, and as a result, they felt the best way to hurt me was to make up stories about me, to paint me in a bad light, and make me look unprofessional, illegitimate, and paint a frame around me that I was crazy.”
Corey recently faced criticism from TikTok users after his guitar playing went viral. Some accused him of ‘fake playing,’ but this wasn’t true. Fred Durst even checked Feldman’s performance on stage.
“Word on the street is Corey Feldman is not playing this guitar solo,” the Limp Bizkit frontman told the audience. “I wanna know if Corey Feldman is really playing this motherf*ckin’ solo, how about you?”
Durst made Feldman repeat the solo to show it was live and not pre-recorded. “He’s f*ckin’ doing it!” Durst said.
In the ’80s, Feldman and Corey Haim were famous teen stars known as the Two Coreys. After Haim’s death and years of addiction, Feldman spoke out about the abuse they suffered in Hollywood. “The biggest problem in Hollywood is pedophilia,” Corey previously said.
Feldman also revealed that Haim was raped by a major Hollywood figure during the filming of ‘Lucas.’ “He made me promise before he died that I would get the truth out,” Feldman also noted in his chat with The Guardian.
Feldman began acting at age 3 and became well-known in the 1980s with films like ‘Gremlins’ and ‘The Goonies.’ He later moved into music and released three solo albums.
