T.J. Miller is pitching a potential return to the Deadpool universe. Miller portrayed Weasel, the best friend of Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and owner of Sister Margaret’s School for Wayward Children (the name of his bar) in the first two movies. But the comedian was noticeably absent for the third installment, Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought the titular heroes to the MCU.
The exact reason for Miller’s absence is still unclear, but it’s thought to have stemmed from a laundry list of problems, including sexual assault allegations (which he has denied), as well as federal charges for a phoning in a fake bomb threat (which were dropped), and long-running issues with substance abuse. Miller also previously announced that he didn’t want to return, following a bad experience with Ryan Reynolds on Deadpool 2.
However, during a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Bonfire, T.J. Miller walked back his previous statement, saying he would love to be a part of Deadpool 4 if and when it happens in the future. “We talked a little while ago,” Miller said of repairing his relationship with Ryan Reynolds. Miller said the pair are rekindling their friendship, and he is open to working with the Canadian actor again in the future. He continued:
“I think him asking me, I think he’s just been such a good friend right now that I think it would be really, I think that would be awesome.”
T.J. Miller had previously called out Reynolds in the past for belittling and making jokes about him in front of the crew on Deadpool 2. In 2022, Miller said that Ryan Reynolds was “horrifically mean to me. But to me. As if I’m Weasel.” Reynolds reportedly made a jab about Weasel’s small role in the second film. Miller then declared that he would never work with Ryan Reynolds again, saying:
“Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again. I sorta wish him well because he’s so good at Deadpool, and I think it’s weird that he hates me.”
Will ‘Deadpool 4’ Happen in the MCU?
While T.J. Miller is pitching himself for the next Deadpool sequel, the movie might not even happen. Deadpool & Wolverine has just hit Disney+, and is dominating the streamer after a record-breaking box office run. However, Marvel Studios has yet to announce a fourth installment. The MCU is already packed with upcoming projects, so fitting Deadpool 4 into Phases 5 or 6 is a tall task.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will also likely want a break from their respective characters. Despite only having a two-year gap between Deadpool and Deadpool 2, Deadpool & Wolverine took another six years to come to fruition. Both Reynolds and Jackman have expressed interest in returning as the Merc with the Mouth and everyone’s favorite X-Men character, respectively. More importantly, both characters are alive and well in the MCU (albeit in a different timeline), and fans are just waiting for them to make the jump to the next Marvel project.
