In a recent conversation with the Metal Voice, Chuck Billy said they are about to finish the new Testament album.
The vocalist talked about how their new album recording is going:
“The drums are finished and half the vocals are done and most of the guitars. No leads or bass yet. Steve’s [DiGiorgio, bass] out on tour with Death To All, and Alex [Skolnick, guitar] usually waits till Eric’s [Peterson, drums] done with all rhythms. But we’re trying to get it accomplished — we leave [for tour] July 10th, so we’re trying to get it all recorded before then.”
Billy also revealed that Testament began working on their new album around November. During the holidays and into this year, drummer Chris Dovas has been actively collaborating with guitarist Eric. He motivated Eric to write aggressive and challenging material.
The Band Members’ Earlier Words On The Upcoming Record
Billy previously confirmed that he and his bandmates were in the studio recording their new album. On April 28, Testament drummer Chris Dovas posted a photo of his drum kit in the studio with the caption:
“It’s happening.”
Chuck reposted his message a day later and said:
“New Album Recording under way. Chris is killing it. Beware kiddos.
A few months ago from April, the singer talked to Michael Spedden from 97 Underground radio about Testament’s plans to record and tour in the coming months, including a trip to Europe in the summer. He noted:
“That’s the norm. We usually go to Europe every summer. So right now we’re on kind of a time restraint because we’re working on a new record. We’re writing it right now. And we have to get it done and record it before we leave in July. That’s our goal. So right now we’re working hard on that.”
Testament’s 2024 summer European tour starts on July 15 in Malmö, Slagthuset. Their last performance is scheduled for August 11 in Cercoux at Festival 666.
