Motionless in White has released a 10th-anniversary edition of ‘Reincarnate’ on vinyl, but a re-recorded version of the title track has gotten some backlash from fans for a certain reason. The vinyl reissue includes new mixes of the singles ‘Reincarnate’ and ‘Contemptress,’ but fans are upset about a new mix of ‘Reincarnate’ called ‘Reincarnate: Reincarnated.’ The new version removes the word ‘bitch’ from the line ‘B*tch you give a f*cking aspirin a headache.’
Lead singer Chris Motionless has addressed the criticism in a recent social media post.
As fans started commenting about the change online, Chris Motionless responded and offered a ‘make good’ offer. In response to someone using the hashtag #NOTMYREINCARNATE on X, Motionless said that he didn’t ‘censor’ the line but admitted he had become uncomfortable with it over time.
“LOL I didn’t censor the b*tch part. I think the whole line is cringe and out of place with the song, but the bitch in there made it even worse to me and I couldn’t stand to do it again. Didn’t realize it was a big line for fans. I’ll put an extra one in on the next record. Deal.”
Still, fans don’t think the line was cringe, and they even suggest that Chris should embrace the cringe.
“That part of the song is very therapeutic to scream. So I don’t care if it’s cringe, we will still scream it,” a user said. “Embrace the cringe,” another added.
Next re-record: ‘b*tch you give a f*cking b*tch aspirin a headache, b*tch,’” a user joked.
Three new vinyl versions of ‘Reincarnate’ are being released along with a new merch line. The band will also perform the entire album at their upcoming Apocalypse Fest event in November.
Along with the new versions of the title track and ‘Contemptress,’ a previously unreleased edit of ‘Unstoppable’ made for WWE NXT in 2015 will be in the new release.
