Chester Bennington’s son Tyler has just made it clear that he doesn’t want to be known as ‘Chester’s son’ and wants his father to be known as ‘Tyler Bennington’s father.’
In a Q&A session on Magenta Creator’s website, he was asked what new skill or knowledge he would want to learn or practice. “I definitely need a marketing lesson or two. Currently, my renown is built of my father,” he responded.
“That irritates me to no end. It’s majorly discouraging to put hours and hours into building a brand for yourself and creating something, and for that to be the afterthought when people think about you,” he continued. “I want to learn how to overshadow my image as ‘Chester Bennington’s son.’ I want it to be ‘Tyler Bennington’s Dad.’ I want people to hear the name Bennington and think of two successful people who used hard work to rise in their industry.”
Tyler hasn’t spoken publicly about his father’s passing much, but he once slammed the attempts to sensationalize his death. Tyler shared his anger over the disrespectful nature of the conspiracy theories about his father’s death. He emphasized the need to preserve his father’s memory and focus on mental health and suicide prevention.
“This is the bullshit I will not deal with on my page. This person is getting blocked. I’m a child – this is inappropriate to post or comment on my posts or anybody’s posts, for that matter,” he wrote. “There’s no evidence for this; there’s no evidence for any of these theories that have been made. These are just veiled attempts to sensationalize and make what really is a tragedy a big story to tell people, so get a life, man. Thanks.”
He did add that he wouldn’t tolerate such behavior about himself and his family.
Different theories about Chester Bennington’s passing keep surfacing. Recently, Jaime Bennington revealed that his father didn’t commit suicide. He mentioned a meeting between Linkin Park and former President Bill Clinton in 2014. He noted that shortly after meeting with the Clintons, Chester joined a human trafficking task force. He also referenced a death hoax about Chester that occurred around the same time.
Other family members have not responded to the theories.
