Captain America: Brave New World could have held off showing too much of Harrison Ford’s transformation into the MCU’s Red Hulk, but instead they have gone all in on showing even more of the angry red brute in the latest trailer for the February release.
Captain America: Brave New World will open Marvel’s account for 2025, and following in the wake of Deadpool & Wolverine is a very daunting task and is clearly going to end up going one of two ways for Marvel Studios. The best scenario is that the good will generated by 2024’s juggernaut summer blockbuster carries over to next year and gives the MCU a similar boost to that received by Captain Marvel when it followed Avengers: Infinity War. Worst case…maybe we will let that lie.
What is important right now is that Marvel Studios is trying their hardest to entice audiences into cinemas by teasing one of those highly anticipated characters as much as possible. The arrival of Red Hulk was rumored early in the production of the new movie, and was eventually confirmed in the summer when the first trailer dropped at San Diego Comic-Con teasing the character. Now it feels like Marvel has dropped the ball a little, as if they had stopped with the original tease, fans could have had more reason to flood theaters on the film’s opening weekend to get their first proper look at Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk transformation.
However, it is what it is, and now there is plenty of Red Hulk footage for fans to trawl over – and for once many of them seem to be behind the look of the character compared to their reactions to the original teaser.
Brave New World Will Also Address MCU Fans’ Biggest Question
While there are many eyes on Red Hulk, many fans will also notice that, as confirmed previously, the question of what happened to the Celestial Tiamut, who has been poking out of the sea since the final act of 2021’s Eternals, will finally be answered. While the giant did receive a passing mention in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the new Brave New World trailer provides several shots of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America flying around the Celestial’s frozen hand.
While the exact plot of the movie is still a little muddled in terms of what is rumor and what has been confirmed, it has been known for some time that part of the story will involve a battle for the resources available from Tiamut’s body. This seems to include a familiar element to Marvel fans – Adamantium. It was once believed that this would be how the MCU would bring Wolverine into the timeline, by creating a new version of the character from the extracted element. However, now that it seems Hugh Jackman is here to stay a little while longer in the role of the clawed X-Men icon, if that does happen, then it will not be for a while yet.
