Captain America: Brave New World is just around the corner, but it appears the movie might be undergoing even more reshoots. The fourth Captain America movie will see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) officially taking on the mantle of the star-spangled hero as he looks to uncover a conspiracy to kill President Ross (Harrison Ford), while also discovering that Ross himself has been powered up as the Red Hulk. Much attention has been put on Red Hulk and The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson), but the film is also bringing in a Marvel villain group. The Serpent Society will be led by Giancarlo Esposito as Seth Voekler/Sidewinder, who just gave a potentially worrying update about Brave New World.
Esposito recently revealed at an event via the X account Cosmic Marvel that he will soon be suiting up as Sidewinder again. He spoke about Captain America: Brave New World, possibly hinting at reshoots for the upcoming MCU film. Esposito joined the cast of Captain America: Brave New World in the first round of reshoots the film had, so the idea that he is being added to more reshoots taking place in the film seems possible. The actor said:
“The Captain America story, as much as it’s been great to be on set to shoot it, I’m actually going back next week to do a little more. Excited to put that costume back on baby.”
While Esposito’s comment hints at Captain America: Brave New World reshoots, they also might have been taken out of context. The X account Captain America News posted the following post with “Correction: Giancarlo Esposito was not referring to reshoots; he was referring to returning for #D23Brazil.” This certainly adds up as D23 Brazil does take place from Nov. 8th to the 10th of 2024, one week after his following appearance, where he was quoted. It is possible that Esposito was referring to D23 Brazil and will suit up as Sidewinder for a presentation, similar to David Harbour appearing in his Red Guardian costume for San Diego Comic-Con 2024 during the Marvel Hall H panel.
Will the Serpent Society be in Captain America 4?
While it appears that Esposito may have been misquoted and Captain America: Brave New World is not undergoing reshoots next week, it is still possible that he could be doing some additional photography on the film. The Avengers‘ famous shawarma post-credit scene was filmed right after the movie’s Los Angeles premiere, three weeks before the film’s theatrical release. With nearly four months until Captain America: Brave New World is expected to hit theaters, it is possible that Esposito could be filming a brief post-credit scene, setting up a future MCU project. He previously hinted his character would appear in other MCU projects outside of Captain America: Brave New World.

While What If…? Season 3 will be the next entry in the MCU, all eyes are on Captain America: Brave New World. Marvel Studios has given it the prime Valentine’s Day/President’s Day opening weekend, and it will be one of the first big event movies of 2025. A new trailer for the film is likely just around the corner and could even premiere at D23 Brazil. This way, the new teaser could be ready and in theaters in time for Disney’s big 2024 holiday releases like Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King. After a disappointing year for superhero movies in 2024, next year is looking to turn things around with movies like Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, Superman, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
