Manheim has portrayed Lt. Kate Dixon since the NBC show’s revival in 2022
’s time in Precinct 27 is coming to an end.
The actress, 63, will depart after season 23, PEOPLE can confirm. Manheim joined the long-running police procedural as Lt. Kate Dixon at the top of its 2022 revival after an 11-year hiatus.
On , she confirmed her exit with a goodbye post in which she expressed gratitude for her “incredible experience” on the show.
“I’m so thankful for the three wonderful seasons that I spent with this wildly talented cast of merry pranksters,” she wrote, naming costars — both current and former — , , , Mehcad Brooks, , , Connie Shi, and .
The winner continued, “I loved showing up for work each and every day, loved keeping the boys in line at Precinct 27 and most importantly, loved spending time with the most hard working, professional and kindhearted crew. They are truly New York’s finest.”

She signed off with a look toward the future, concluding, “Something wonderful awaits me around the corner, and I can’t wait to see what it is. Until then… Go Knicks!”
In a statement provided to PEOPLE, Law & Order creator thanked Manheim for her help relaunching the flagship. “I thank Camryn for her three wonderful seasons helping us relaunch Law & Order. She is a class act, and I wish her nothing but the best for her next chapter.”
PEOPLE has reached out to NBC and Manheim for comment.
Manheim is the third actor to leave the revival, after Anderson and Donovan . The series, which first premiered in 1990, was rebooted for a 21st season in 2021 after more than a decade off air.

At the season 25 premiere of the show’s sister series , Manheim spoke to PEOPLE about how she knew the role of Kate was perfect for her — with some encouragement from the showrunner.
“When they asked me if I’d come on the show, I’m like, ‘What! What do you want from me? Why me?’ And I remember the showrunner going, ‘We just need someone who can boss around the detectives and they’re going to be just a little bit scared,'” she recalled. “And I’m like, ‘I can do that.’ I’ve got a lot of experience, like I had a kid, and I boss everyone around.”
