Prime Video’s new action comedy, Brothers, has debuted at the top of the Prime Video chart. Starring Josh Brolin, Peter Dinklage, and Glenn Close, the movie sees the three former Marvel actors on screen together for the first time, but hasn’t exactly been pulling in reviews that match the caliber of its stars from either critics or viewers.
Like many new streaming releases, Brothers has very easily found a way to the top of Prime Video’s movie chart, overtaking crime drama Killer Heat and the steamy Zendaya-led hit Challengers. The film is a road trip movie that finds going-straight criminal Moke Munger (Brolin) and his wayward brother Jady (Dinklage) looking for the biggest score of their lives. However, nothing is going to be that simple and chaos ensues as the pair attempt to avoid being arrested, shot, or beaten to death by the tongue of their overbearing mother (Close). While it all sounds like a whole heap of fun, the results have been incredibly mixed, with some even calling out Amazon for wasting a talented cast on “a film written and directed by people with no vision.”
Brothers’ relatively small main cast also features Brendan Fraser, Marisa Tomei, Taylour Paige, and M. Emmet Walsh. The film received a limited theatrical run on October 10, with a subsequent debut on Prime Video on October 17. Although the team behind the movie have taken a thrashing from many reviewers, the story for Brothers was conceived by Tropic Thunder and The Bad Guys writer Etan Cohen, and the script was written by Macon Blair, who recently received praise for his work on a still to be released Peter Dinklage movie, The Toxic Avenger. While all of this should have made the film a solid gold hit, that clearly is not the case.
Is Brothers Worth Watching on Prime Video?
Naturally, everyone has a different opinion when it comes to what makes a good movie. Based on the reviews of Brothers, there is an equal chance that you’ll either love it or hate it, as there could not have been a more divided reaction to the film.
Although the Rotten Tomatoes scores for Brothers are still in flux, the film has proven to be one of those rare times when critics and audiences are in agreement that the film is a very mixed bag. At the time of writing, the Tomatometer score sits at 40% and the Popcornmeter registers a slightly more favorable 48%. While many reviews praise the cast for doing what they can with the material they have been given, the material itself seems to be the biggest bone of contention for everyone.

Brothers Review: Josh Brolin & Peter Dinklage Get Big Laughs in Raunchy Crime Comedy
Brendan Fraser, Marisa Tomei, Glenn Close, and the late M. Emmet Walsh are also hilarious in this ridiculous Prime Video movie.
It is not all doom and gloom for the movie though, as there are still plenty of people tuning in to check out this riff on the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito movie Twins – which itself gained terrible reviews but is a much-loved feature for fans of both actors. So perhaps Brothers may not be getting too much love right now, but it could well stand as a classic of the future for Brolin and Dinklage’s mismatched twins.
