Recently, female pop stars and actors like Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo have reigned over the music industry. Both go way back in their history with Hollywood as well, but Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Charli XCX is no longer going to be a stranger to this new wave. She is now set for her second live-action movie role, teaming up with Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman for a thriller titled I Want Your Sex, directed by Gregg Araki for Black Bear.

How Charli XCX Dominated The Summer With ‘brat’
Charli XCX’s latest album ‘brat’ has taken the world by storm. It is an unapologetic exploration of youth and youthful rebellion, which resonated deeply with fans. The catchy hooks and shocking lyrics have made brat the soundtrack of the summer, sparking a trend known as the ‘brat summer’ on TikTok and Instagram, where fans embrace their ‘brat’ aesthetic and share their own carefree moments with the abrasive yellow-green color being the focal point in all the posts.
Because of brat, Charli XCX has established herself in the industry as an experimental artist, unafraid of pushing boundaries and blending genres. The album is her seventh studio album, following Crash, How I’m Feeling Now, Charli, Sucker, True Romance and 14. In addition to her success in music, Charli XCX has made significant contributions to film soundtracks as well.
She co-executive produced the score for David Lowery’s forthcoming A24 film Mother Mary, and also produced the original music for the Prime Video series titled Overcompensating. She was also part of the soundtrack from last year’s Barbie, and she’s written songs for movies like The Fault in Our Stars and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Overall, Charli XCX has an ability to seamlessly transition between music and movies, and her latest foray into acting will only help showcase her versatility.
