“The King of the Ring meets the Prince of Peace.” While that intro should sell you on the upcoming action/faith/drama The Carpenter, here’s some additional details anyway: the action flick follows a Viking and expert fighter who becomes the apprentice to a mysterious carpenter. And that Carpenter is none other than Jesus Christ himself. Sold now? We thought so. Not only will The Carpenter feature fight sequences and religious philosophy, it will also boast a heavy metal soundtrack. If the idea of MMA, Vikings, Jesus, and heavy metal all mixed together doesn’t appeal to you, then maybe you just don’t know what’s important in life.
Set to be released on Friday, November 1st, The Carpenter is directed by Garrett Batty from a story by Kenny Krebs, Kameron Krebs, and Batty. The movie stars Kameron Krebs as the rage-filled Viking alongside Kaulin Krebs, Jeff Dickamore, and Aurora Florence, as well as several professional fighters, including former heavyweight boxer Daz Crawford, former Extreme Fighting Championship competitors Brendon Groenwald and Gideon Drotschie, and Taekwondo master Matt Esof.
You can check out the official synopsis and trailer for The Carpenter below.
“An adopted viking orphan becomes a carpenter’s apprentice to Jesus. The orphan, Oren, fights as a side hustle. His experience training as a carpenter with Jesus as his mentor changes his lifestyle.”
The Carpenter Promises To Be ‘Unlike’ Any Action Movie Before It
In a statement, co-writer and star Kameron Krebs has revealed that the idea for The Carpenter was born many years ago when he built a shed with his father. How wrapping about carpentry and Jesus led to an action movie set in 29AD Nazareth and featuring a soundtrack that includes Godsmack, Drowning Pool and Motley Crue remains a mystery.
“Almost a decade ago, my dad and I were building a shed when we came up with the idea for the film. We were talking about how much perfection goes into the craft, and we ultimately began discussing what a perfect occupation carpentry was for Jesus. That made us wonder what it would be like to work under his tutelage as an apprentice, and from there, the film was born.”

Director Garrett Batty, meanwhile, simply “fell in love with the premise.” And, really, how can you blame him?
“I fell in love with the premise right away, asking the question so many of us have asked. What was Jesus’ life like in the years leading up to His ministry? We spent a lot of time imagining him during those early adult years before his recorded ministry officially began. It became clear that we should depict Jesus as a caring, good-humored, likable and wise older brother. Add in the action, soundtrack and the Krebs family’s inspired vision, and you have a film unlike anything I’ve ever had the joy of working on.”

is all set to hit theaters on November 1, 2024.
