Bon Jovi reunited with the talk box in their new song, ‘Living Proof.’
The talk box is one of Richie Sambora’s signature characteristics as a guitar player. The musician used it in many Bon Jovi classics like ‘Livin’ on a Prayer,’ ‘It’s My Life’ and ‘Everyday.’ ‘Living Proof’ is the second single from Bon Jovi’s upcoming album, ‘Forever.’ It will arrive next month on June 7.
This new single is a return to electric guitars and the use of the talk box. The talk box is used a lot in the new song. ‘Living Proof’ is really made for modern listeners, and a big part of that is because of Phil X. He adds a lot to the song with his solos and energetic playing.
Jon Bon Jovi’s Previous Words On The New Album
Going back to that sound isn’t accidental. Jon Bon Jovi previously said the album ‘Forever’ is all about looking back, so they’re intentionally going back to their original style:
“This record is a return to joy. From the writing, through the recording process, this is turn up the volume, feel good Bon Jovi.”
They’re not just revisiting the past through the music. Bon Jovi wrote a song called ‘My First Guitar’ using the actual guitar he had 45 years ago. When they released the first song, ‘Legendary,’ Jon told the following about the full album in a video:
“Yeah, I’m really proud of this album. This album, the songwriting, I actually think it’s the best record we’ve made in 20 years. I think the fans are gonna love it. Bon Jovi Forever, baby.”
Also, alongside the release of ‘Living Proof,’ there’s a new documentary called ‘Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story’ on Hulu and Disney+. It covers the band’s whole career. There are also rumors that Jon might be the new American Idol judge in the coming months.
