The queen of fashion! Blake Lively has cemented herself as an incredible actress, a superstar mom and a total fashionista. After all, there’s no celebrity who does a red carpet like her. She can turn heads in gowns, pants and everything in between.
From her colorful and feminine beaded frocks to her penchant for Christian Louboutin shoes — Lively’s style is uniquely her own and endlessly inspiring.
And it’s all the more impressive since the star famously picks her own clothes. That’s right, the Betty Buzz founder acts as her own stylist.
“It’s a lot of work [but] I mean, it’s not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning,” she told WWD in 2018. “So once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does. But it’s easier because you have access to clothes so it’s not that hard.”
She continued: “The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in. I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is that I have relationships with the designers.”
The reason she’s yet to seek out help? Well, she chalks it up to “control issues and a big ego.” But with a love for fashion and impeccable taste, it’s no surprise that the Gossip Girl alum hops on the chance to “be creative.”
While she has a handful of looks for the books, one that was unquestionably her best was her 2018 Met Gala ensemble. For fashion’s biggest night, she stunned in an Atelier Versace gown that oozed opulence. And given that the beaded dress took a full 600 hours to make, it’s no surprise that Lively made her mark as red carpet royalty.
The Shallows actress knows how to slay a chic-and-casual outfit as well. At the Free Guy movie premiere in August 2021, Lively rocked a lavender gown by Prabal Gurung. The sequined frock featured cutouts on the bodice and a flowy skirt. The blonde beauty proved she’s just like Us by pairing the dress with high-top Converse — which she later traded in for Louboutin stilettos.
One of her most adored looks came at the 2022 Met Gala, when the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star dominated the theme that year, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The Age of Adaline star, who co-chaired the fundraiser that year, arrived on the red carpet in a transformative Versace gown. When Lively arrived on the red carpet, her outfit started as an elegant copper colored dress, finished with a beaded design resembling the Empire State Building’s architecture. With the help of assistants, the dress’ bustle then opened up to reveal a gorgeous teal color, representing the oxidation of the Statue of Liberty.
She added even more hidden details to the extravagant gown, including the same constellations featured on the ceiling of the Grand Central Station to her train, seven spikes on her crown, representing the spikes on the Statue of Liberty, and 25 stones on the headpiece as well, to match the 25 windows on the landmark.
