The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is celebrating the 19th anniversary of his first solo record, ‘The Future Embrace.’ The rocker took to Instagram to share his thoughts about the record and revealed the desperate situation he is in because of it. He explained:
“19 years ago today. Still one of the best records I’ve ever made and I will go to my grave with that conviction. But then again, making an album like this and dealing with its fallout will help put me in an early grave so I won’t have to wait very long to hold true to that personal conviction.”
Corgan Needs ‘Ego’ To Survive In The Industry
Corgan thinks ego is needed in the music industry, but up to just one point.
Alternative Nation reported that Corgan discussed various topics during a recent Instagram Q&A, including ego, guitar solos, and more. In the discussion, he was asked to what degree ego is needed to achieve a rockstar status. He replied:
“Ego is needed for survival and perseverance and distinction. Useless beyond that. If ego wrote good songs you wouldn’t be talking to me.”
