Family Guy as a live-action sitcom would be an interesting prospect, but while it is very unlikely we will get to see it happen, fans can instead check out an unnerving AI creation featuring Bill Murray , Adam Sandler, Steve Carrell and even original Family Guy star Mila Kunis instead. Just like The Simpsons before it, this live-action concept trailer is brimming with famous faces, all moving with the kind of eerie David Lynch vibe that only AI is capable of creating, and it has thrown some interesting casting options into the mix.
When casting the Griffin family, Kevin James is the actor of choice to take on the role of patriarch Peter, while Elizabeth Banks transforms into his glamorous wife Lois. Meanwhile, children Meg, Chris and Stewie are portrayed by Mila Kunis – cutting a very different Meg to that of her animated counterpart – Jonah Hill, and Griffin Banks, respectively. And then we have Rob Schneider as a human-in-a-dog-suit version of Brian. But that is only the tip of the AI-generated iceberg.
The rest of the video hides some unexpected gems, like Steve Carell going Anchorman to become Tom Tucker, Adam Sandler getting giggedy as Glenn Quagmire, Jared Leto as Jesus (of course!), and Dwayne Johnson as Joe Swanson. Then right at the end, as the show’s most dubious of neighbors Herbert, is an uncanny Bill Murray. Check out all of these and more in the video below.
Lucky There’s Not a Live-Action Family Guy
While it is fun to check out how some famous faces could look as animated characters, we can be a little thankful that a live-action Family Guy is not something that is probably going to happen for real. Even taking away the creepy AI aspects, the idea of Stewie without his rugby ball head, or Brian as a man in a suit or, god forbid, CGI, just isn’t something anyone wants to dwell on.
Instead, fans of Seth MacFarlane’s politically incorrect animated series can now catch up with the Griffins on Hulu/Disney+ thanks to the series being part of their merger with Fox. Just like The Simpsons, this also means that, for the immediate future, the series is quite safe from cancelation. Season 22, which featured only 15 episodes rather than the usual 20, debuted in October 2023 and ran through until April 2024. Season 23 will take the show into 2025, having been renewed at the same time as the previous season. There will also be two holiday specials airing later this year to boot.
Currently, Season 23 is the only future season to have been green lit, but with the series continuing to deliver decent viewership, it is unlikely that this will be its last. Anyone who has not been keeping up with the Griffins can find all seasons on Hulu in the U.S. and Star on Disney+ in most other territories.
