From the start of their careers, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon worked together as a stellar double act – from the heart-tugging Good Will Hunting, through several Kevin Smith adventures (most notably Dogma), and more recently in The Last Duel and Air. Now, they’re set to star together once more in a brawny crime thriller from a filmmaker who’s well-known for his… well, brawny crime thrillers. Make way for RIP, from director Joe Carnahan, with Affleck and Damon set to lead the cast.
As reported by Deadline, Affleck, Damon and Carnahan are currently shopping RIP around to find a distributor, and the film will go in front of cameras later in 2024. More details about the film’s plot are being kept tightly under wraps, but it comes from Affleck and Damon’s production company, Artists Equity, which previously brought us Air, and will soon deliver the Damon-starring The Instigators, from director Doug Liman. Previous outings for RIP director Carnahan include Copshop, The Grey, The A-Team, and Smokin’ Aces.
Stay tuned for more info on RIP as it builds up steam ahead of production – and chalk this one up as a promising project for fans of big, starry, original crime cinema. Which, frankly, is all of us.
