Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has just cast some of Season 2’s most important characters as the gang are heading to Ba Sing Se. Netflix’s popular, but divisive The Last Airbender adaptation will last for three seasons on the streamer. Season 2 will see Aang, Sokka, and Katara head to Ba Sing Se to find an Earthbending master for the Avatar, where they will run into the franchise’s best character, Toph (Miya Cech).
Netflix recently gave fans more good news, as the show has cast some of Season 2’s biggest players. When the gang reach Ba Sing Se, they learn that the shadowy organization, the Dai Lee, are using propaganda to keep the city ignorant of the war that has raged on for over 100 years. Chin Han (Mortal Kombat) will play Long Feng, the vicious leader of the Dai Lee. To keep the gang in check, the Dai Lee appoints Joo Dee to look after them. The famous words, “there is no war in Ba Sing Se,” will be spoken by Amanda Zhou (The Handmaid’s Tale) in Netflix’s adaptation. The city itself will be ruled by Justin Chien (The Brothers Sun), who will play King Kuei.
Before the gang arrives in the city, they meet some interesting Earthbenders along the way. Lourdes Faberes (The Sandman) will play General Sung, an Earthbending warrior who tries to control the Avatar’s powers and quickly end the war with the fire nation. Hoa Xuande (The Sympathizer) will play Professor Zei, an anthropologist from the Ba Sing Se University who is on a mission to find the mysterious Wan Shi Tong’s Library.
Toph Will Be a Wrestler in Avatar: The Last Airbender
Without a doubt, fans are most excited (and nervous) about seeing Toph brought to life in live-action. The youngest member of the group, Toph is a blind Earthbending master who becomes Aang’s teacher. Netflix’s adaptation has made several changes to the overarching story, and the timeline to bring The Last Airbender to life in live-action. But, thankfully, they’re keeping one of Toph’s best, and most entertaining details: her introduction.

Paul Sun-Hyung Lee cannot wait for fans to see the “really great storytelling” for Zuko and Iroh in Season 2.
Thinking like the children they are, the gang tries to find Aang an Earthbending master at a professional wrestling match. They witness a fight between The Boulder and a mysterious fighter known only as The Blind Bandit. Netflix’s casting update revealed that Kelemete Misipeka (Hobbs & Shaw) will play The Boulder in Season 2, meaning we’ll get to see the Earthbending wrestling match play out on screen.
Crystal Yu (Doctor Who) will portray Lady Beifong, Toph’s mother in Season 2, who is unaware of her daughter’s Earthbending skills. Season 2 will also introduce a new character to the franchise. Rekha Sharma (Star Trek: Discovery) will play Amita, an original Earthbender created for the show. Details are scarce about the new character, but she’s believed to be an Earthbending master who is trying to start up a moving company. Season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender doesn’t yet have a release date.
