Arcane has done it again. Neflix’s most popular (and most expensive) animated series is back for Season 2, and continuing its Rotten Tomatoes hot streak with another perfect score.
What everyone once assumed was a shameless tie-in to the infamous League of Legends video game has become renowned as the greatest animated video game adaptation of all-time. Season 1 was a sensational hit for Netflix, earning a coveted 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with an equally impressive 96% audience score. Countless features, articles, and video essays have been written praising and analyzing Arcane, and fans were eager to dive back into the cities of Piltover and Zaun for Season 2.So, has Netflix delivered a second time around?
The second and final season of Arcane has managed to repeat history, earning another perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes Score. What’s more, Season 2 has earned a slightly higher audience score of 97%. The reviews praise the new season (which premiered its first three episodes on November 9) as an almost perfect continuation and finale of Jinx (Ella Purnell) and Vi’s (Hailee Steinfeld) rivalry, as Piltover and Zaun commit to all-out war. Dylan Roth of the Observer summed it up best, writing:
“A video-game company invested a ludicrous amount of time and money on what could be considered a longform advertisement and
wound up with one of the best animated series ever made.

Arcane Season 2 Pushes the Boundaries of Animation
Arcane hasn’t just been hailed as one of the best video game adaptations of all time, but as one of the greatest animated shows ever made. The series has a die-hard fan base (which is significantly less toxic than that of League of Legends), who endlessly re-watch the series more than your aunt who can’t get enough of Friends. All the reviews have been unanimous in their praise of the series, with David Opie of Total Film writing:
“Arcane season 2 hits the ground running with a wider scope and thrilling action that’s as achingly beautiful as it is brutal. One of the all-time best video game adaptations.”
It’s hard not to compare Arcane to its video game counterpart. Many hold Arcane to the same level as League of Legends, with Chris Gallardo of Tell-Tale TV saying, “Arcane Season 2 excels in concluding its poignant and action-packed story about sisterhood and family through Riot Games’ fantastic world.” But Annie Banks of The Mary Sue put it best, writing:
“What if ‘League of Legends’ was actually good?”
Season 2 has already caused the Arcane fan base to swarm on Netflix like a bunch of hungry vultures. The show currently sits in 2nd on the streamer’s Top 10 ranking, and is expected to maintain a high spot as each part of Season 2 is released weekly.
