Netflix finally confirmed that America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders has been renewed for season 2.
The news, announced on Monday, November 11, was accompanied by a teaser that showed some of our favorite DCC ladies doing a special cheer before dropping their pom-poms into the shape of a “2.”
The season 2 pickup isn’t a surprise considering the reality show was a hit. It stayed in the U.S. Top 10 List for five weeks and landed in the Top 10 in 27 other countries.
The seven-episode first season followed both vets and newbie cheerleaders as they tried to impress director Kelli Finglass, head choreographer Judy Trammell and Cowboys executive vice president and chief brand officer Charlotte Jones (who is also the daughter of owner Jerry Jones).

Among the rookies was Reece Weaver, whose first year on the squad was chronicled for the show. She exclusively told Us Weekly that the training camp was even “more” intense than she’d expected.
“I’ve danced all my life and have done very hard things, have done fun things and done rigorous [things],” she explained to Us in June. “I knew that the standard was high and the expectations of excellence were there and I was very aware of that. But it’s not until you’re in it where you’re tested, the mental toughness is really going to be something that shines through and so it’s definitely a lot tougher than you think.”
Shortly after the summer premiere, director Greg Whiteley made it clear that he felt there was more to explore with the cheerleaders.
“Our last two or three weeks of filming, we were just starting to hit our stride,” he told Variety in June.
“I felt like we were just starting to get there as we were wrapping up,” he confessed. “And I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”

Whitely will be back for season 2, which a press release said “will follow the 2024-25 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders squad from start to finish — kicking off at auditions and training camp and continuing all the way through the NFL season.”
The stars have praised the Netflix series for showing what it’s really like to wear the iconic uniform.
“I personally enjoyed that peek behind the curtain,” Finglass exclusively told Us in June. “This show does show that talent, and the audition and the competition part in the first couple of episodes. But then it goes into their personal lives, follows them at home, follows them at work.”
America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 2 will debut on Netflix in 2025. An exact premiere date has not been announced.
