Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell teased his new project with a cryptic Instagram post.
The musician posted a video with the words
“As if you don’t know.”
His post also included a link to his website. The website shows the same text with an ‘Enter’ button. When you click it, you see the many-armed Cantrell from the photo above.

After this IG post, Cantrell clarified the mystery around his new project and announced on X:
“My new single, ‘Vilified’ is out Thursday, July 25 at 9 PM PT / Midnight ET.”
Cantrell’s latest solo album, ‘Brighten,’ was released in October 2021. It was his first solo project in 19 years, separate from Alice In Chains. Jerry co-produced the album with Tyler Bates and Paul Figueroa.
The album features drummers Gil Sharone and Abe Laboriel, Jr., pedal steel player Michael Rozon, and Vincent Jones on piano and organ. Notable names like Duff McKagan and Greg Puciato also contributed. Joe Barresi mixed the album. It includes eight original songs and ends with a cover of Elton John’s ‘Goodbye.’
Will Alice In Chains Release A New Record?
On the other hand, Alice In Chains released their ‘Rainier Fog’ album in 2018 and has toured a lot since then. Vocalist William DuVall said last year in an interview that the band members were currently busy with other things:
“I would suppose [new music will happen], right? There’s no plans in the offing right now, because we’re all kind of doing other things. But inevitably it seems to kind of circle back.”
Alice In Chains has no scheduled shows for the moment. Cantrell will be touring with Bush for their 2024 summer shows. The tour kicks off on July 26 in Bend, Oregon, and ends on September 15 in Los Angeles, California.
