Testament’s Alex Skolnick has responded to the backlash Hayley Williams has been receiving after calling out Donald Trump on stage.
The host of the Timcast podcast, Tim Pool, shared the live video from Paramore’s recent performance at Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena. “Wow that sucks I’ve been a fan of Paramore forever. It’s a shame she decided to push misinformation without research like this,” Pool wrote.
Skolnick responded to both him and the haters saying they should listen to names like Nugent and Kid Rock instead until it’s too late. “Maybe it’s time for some of you to start listening to the artists you’re a fan of before disowning them. Pretty soon, you won’t have any left (except Kid Rock, 3 Doors Down, Nugent and a few others).”
While playing ‘Big Man, Little Dignity,’ during their performance, the Paramore singer criticized the former president. “Project 2025 is Donald Trump’s playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of colour, and the LGBTQ community,” she said. “It is time for all Americans to band together and to finally defeat the Trump agenda. And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls. Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well, show up and vote.”
Hayley has been vocal about politics and her dislike for Republicans. She called out Governor Ron DeSantis and anyone who would support him for president in another one of her live shows. “I’ll be happy to tell you I’m very f*cking comfortable talking politics,” she said at her Atlantic City concert in June 2023. “If you vote for Ron DeSantis, you’re f*cking dead to me. Is that comfortable enough for anyone?”
In other news, Paramore is currently working on new music. It will be a follow-up to their 2023 album, ‘This Is Why.’
