Aerosmith recently announced new North American shows for their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour on their website after Steven Tyler’s health issues.
The Black Crowes will be the opening act. The band’s upcoming shows will start on September 20 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the last show scheduled is on February 26, 2024, in Buffalo, New York.
Tyler Had A Vocal Injury
Soon after the tour started, the band said it had to be postponed until next year because Tyler hurt his vocal cords badly while performing on September 9. They thought the singer would need just 30 days to recover from his injury, but it turned out he needed more time. Aerosmith released a statement, saying:
“To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care.”
Because his fracture needed longer to heal, the band revealed they had to postpone the rest of the planned dates until next year:
“He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled ‘Peace Out’ shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.”
Tyler also added a message:
“‘I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!’ – Love, Steven.”
Steven Returned To The Studio
Later, in November 2023, the rocker was back in the studio with Aerosmith, but there was no update on the tour. Tyler shared a photo on Instagram of him in the studio and said they were busy remixing some of their classic tunes. He wrote in the caption:
“Throats on the mend… But my ears still work! So in the meantime… It’s studio time… Starting re-mixing Aerosmith!”
In February 2024, Tyler appeared at his charity event, Jam for Janie Grammys viewing party, and talked about his recovery from his vocal injury. He said that his throat had improved but had not fully recovered.
