Abbott Elementary is teasing a big crossover for Season 4. Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary comedy series that follows the lives of a group of teachers in an underfunded, predominantly Black school in Philadelphia that stars and was created by Quinta Brunson. Since the series debuted in December 2021, it has been a hit with critics and audiences, having been nominated for multiple Emmys and Golden Globes, and has become a hit television series for ABC.
The cast of Abbott Elementary appeared at San Diego Comic-Con to promote the new season, and they offered an exciting tidbit. Season four is currently underway, with six episodes of the 22-episode season written. Speaking to the audience at SDCC (via Variety), Quinta Brunson teased that the upcoming season will feature a crossover, but did not specify with which other show. She did say it would be a big deal. Brunson said:
“We will be doing an interesting crossover this season. I’m not gonna tell you with who, or with what, or where, or when, but it’s really exciting and I think it’ll change television as we know it.”
What Series Could Abbott Elementary Crossover With?
As soon as the announcement hit, fans started speculating on which series could cross over with the popular show and be that “big deal.” One of the obvious choices some people put out there was It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, given both series take place in Philadelphia, and now that FX is a subsidiary of Disney, both series are under the same corporate umbrella. Yet the adult-oriented comedy might not mesh with Abbott Elementary. Other potential Disney-owned series that could be contenders are ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy or Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. While not an ABC series, given the setting, Will Smith could return as an adult version of the character from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to give back to his hometown. If that were the case, that would also fold Abbott Elementary into series like Blossom, Different Strokes, and The Jeffersons, as those series crossed over with Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Fans have even begun to speculate about a potential Marvel crossover. Since ABC is a division of the Walt Disney Company, Abbott Elementary has had a lot of fun with the Marvel iconography, including Season 2’s “Candy Zombies,” which not only saw Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) and Ava Coleman (Janelle James) dress up for Halloween as the Scarlet Witch and Storm respectively, but one of the kids dressed up as Thanos. Then, for the episode after the Academy Awards, Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper appeared in the cold open, and they acknowledged that he voiced Rocket in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. While Abbott Elementary‘s crossover might not be with the official MCU canon, it could be a meta crossover, like having the cast of Agatha All Along appear in the series. Audiences will have to tune in to Season 4 to find out.
