If you’ve ever misplaced your engagement ring—even temporarily—you know the nauseating swell of panic that accompanies the realization that, somehow, your rock is no longer on your finger. Having your engagement ring stolen, on the other hand? That’s a different feeling entirely, and one that U.K. reality TV star Vicky Pattison allegedly experienced firsthand this week. According to The Sun, the actress, who is best known for her role in the MTV shows Geordie Shore and Ex on the Beach, was reduced to tears after she realized that her luggage, which had her massive emerald-cut engagement worth $200,000 inside, had been stolen off a train en route to Newcastle.
It gets worse: Pattison’s summer wedding date is quickly approaching, which means this ordeal has added another layer of stress to the bride’s pre-nuptial timeline. “Vicky is absolutely distraught. She’s been inconsolable—crying her eyes out and frantic about the whole thing,” a source close to the bride-to-be affirmed to the outlet. “Her engagement ring obviously means the world to her and to lose it weeks before the wedding makes it an even more bitter pill to swallow.”
Pattison, who is set to wed her fiancé Ercan Ramadan in five weeks, is hoping she can get her ring back—and fast!—and is reportedly leaning on law enforcement in the interim. “She’s reported it to the police, who are handling the situation, and is hoping to get it back somehow,” the source explained.
Though this has likely been the most anxiety-inducing element of Pattison’s wedding prep, the bride-to-be has been open about her current stress level. Before her engagement ring was stolen, she admitted that she was starting to feel the pressure. “It’s been all systems go for the London leg of our wedding and I think it’s safe to say I’m in full blown panic mode now,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I flip flop between feeling like I’m about to go full-blown bridezilla and desperately trying to stop myself and then thinking you know, I’m actually quite proud that it’s taken me this long into the process to become an a***hole.”
Despite these reports, Pattison has yet to comment on the theft on social media; in fact, her most recent update, posted yesterday, was particularly calm. “The most perfect weekend,” she wrote, alongside an image of a recent cabin getaway. The Sun has allegedly reached out for comment, but has yet to hear from Pattison’s representatives.
