Fans of the macabre have a lot to celebrate this month, what with it being spooky season and all. Now there’s even more reasons to rejoice thanks to the launch of a free horror channel that’s set to follow in the footsteps of other streaming services such as Tubi that offer a plethora of scary content at absolutely no cost. SCREAM TV makes its North American debut on Sunday, October 13 beginning at 6am EST courtesy of NYX Media Corporation.
SCREAM TV, a television channel dedicated to delivering horror fans a superbly curated genre movie experience, will be available within the DistroTV app that can be downloaded on any Roku and Amazon Fire TV, as well as iOS and Android devices. Plans are in place to have it roll out in more locations as we head into 2025, with NYX Media Corporation CEO Corinne Ferguson calling it not only a channel that has the precious time of the viewer in mind, but content creators as well, whom she says will greatly benefit from the new channel both financially, and in terms of promotion.
“We are so excited to launch SCREAM TV and bring our unique horror entertainment experience to the fans across North America for free. One of our passions as horror fans is to painstakingly craft a journey through the horror genre worthy of the viewer’s time every night and 24/7. Our programming is done with the utmost respect towards our viewer’s time – which we feel is one of the most precious commodities – and we want the viewer to have the best experience possible, so lean back and let us entertain you.
“SCREAM TV also has great respect for the content creators, and we are excited to share the success of the film on our channel with them, both in terms of publicity and financial aspects. We really want the content creators to feel respected, valued and appreciated too. At SCREAM TV, there truly is something for every type of horror fan, even the young ones, so tune in.”
SCREAM TV Boasts An Impressive Line-Up of Horror Favorites
Ahead of its launch, SCREAM TV is already boasting a number of horror favorites both old and recent in its catalog, including 13 Ghosts (1960), Black Sunday (1960), Zombie (1979), Pieces (1982), Halloween (1978), The Evil Dead (1981), and The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014). The channel will also feature themed nights, weekly genre news, horror hosts à la Elvira and Joe Bob Briggs, and daytime content that’s more on the lighter side, such as the classic Canadian series Hilarious House of Frankenstein, which features the late Vincent Price.
