You’re likely familiar with the slang term Karen. Now Miya Hayes, a self-assured 6-year-old in Tennessee, is introducing a character she made up and named Jessica.
While a Karen demands to speak with a manager, Jessica is that child who makes unsolicited comments about other kids’ bodies.
In a now-viral Instagram video, Miya tells the world exactly what she thinks of a girl in her school who acts like a Jessica.
“Let me all tell ya’ll something — don’t talk about people,” Miya says with conviction. “People is perfect the way they are.”
“And I’m talking about you, Jessica!” the first grader adds, waving a finger in front of the camera.
“Jessica is mean,” Miya tells TODAY.com during a phone interview.
Miya’s mom, Chrisshay Clack, says her daughter was “born confident.”
“Miya speaks her mind. She knows who she is and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks about her,” Clack tells TODAY.
“Good morning to everyone except Jessica,” one person wrote in the comments on Clack’s Instagram.
Other reactions included:
-
“She said what she said JESSICA!!!”
-
“At this point where is Jessica?? We ride at dawn.”
-
“Somebody tag JESSICA so we can settle this once and for all.”
-
“Idk who Jessica is but now I don’t care for her or her parents lol.”
In another reel, Miya announces to Clack that another female classmate — presumably Jessica — called her fat.
“Really? But remember, we don’t care about what other people say, OK?” Clack reminds Miya.
“And I said, ‘Yo mama!’” Miya exclaims, proudly.
Clack bursts out laughing.
“No! You don’t talk about nobody’s mama,” Clack says.
But the little girl isn’t done.
“Then her mama came and picked her up and her mama really was fat!” Miya replies. Then under her breath she adds, “At least I didn’t lie though.”
Miya wants to be an actor when she grows up.
“I’m gonna be a superstar,” Miya tells TODAY.com.
She already is.
