Guy Ritchie has gotten his wish, as The Gentlemen has been renewed for a second season at Netflix. Serving as a spinoff to the 2019 film of the same name, The Gentlemen hit the streaming service earlier this year, quickly finding its audience, which helped it amass a total of 44 million views during its first month. Featuring eight episodes in total, the series stars Theo James, Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito, and Ritchie mainstay Vinnie Jones, to name a few.
Per Variety, The Gentlemen Season 2 will see the return of James and Scodelario, with Ritchie also returning as writer/director alongside co-writer Matthew Read. There’s no word yet on who else will be joining the new season, and filming is expected to get underway next year, so we still have a long wait ahead of us before it premieres. Anne Mensah, VP of Content for Netflix UK, says that renewing The Gentlemen for a second outing was an easy decision, and that the company – like the rest of us – can’t wait to see where it goes next.
“With its gun-toting chickens and drug-dealing Dukes, The Gentlemen was a huge hit with audiences in 2024. Not really a surprise as Guy Ritchie remains one of the industry’s most iconic creators telling authentically British stories with his signature swagger, grit and wit. We are thrilled the series will be returning to Netflix for a second season, and cannot wait to see what happens when the worlds of old money and drug money collide once more.”

How Netflix’s The Gentlemen Fits Into Guy Richie’s Movie Universe
Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen did fairly well in theaters, and it stands to reason the new Netflix series adaptation will do just the same.
Featuring James as former Army Captain Eddie Horniman who inherits an estate and the title of Duke of Halstead, his character quickly learns that the land is being used for a weed-growing operation run by Scodelario’s Susie Glass. With a colorful mix of offbeat characters that Ritchie has become known for throughout the years, (Snatch, anyone?), the series is the perfect mix of crime, comedy, and is in many ways a throwback to the creator’s earlier work such as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and RocknRolla.
What Can We Expect in Season 2 of The Gentlemen?
While plot details remain under wraps for now, The Gentlemen could go to any number of places. With Eddie doing away with Henry Collins, and Ray Winstone’s Bobby Glass revealing that he never intended to retire in the first place, but rather plans for Horniman and Susie to inherit his empire, Ritchie has certainly left things wide open for Season 2.
For Scodelario, she says that she’d like for The Gentlemen to go beyond its UK borders, but admittedly, it’s for selfish reasons. Speaking with Collider earlier this year, the Resident Evil actress revealed that she wasn’t necessarily a fan of England’s weather.
“I don’t know. I think something unexpected would be quite cool. It would be interesting to see Susie and Eddie negotiate the more business side of things and the structure of how it works, and we could learn more about how she’s built this empire over time. Selfishly, I’d love them to go abroad somewhere. That would be nice. England was fun, but it was quite cold and rainy. I could see them taking a trip to overseas land.”
We can see that, but maybe not for a whole season. Perhaps they can pull a Sons of Anarchy and visit another country for a few episodes like the biker gang did in Season 3 of the FX series. Regardless, we can’t wait to find out what Ritchie has in store for us in a couple of years when The Gentlemen returns in all its glory to Netflix.
