Brian May is hosting a special BBC documentary about his work to deal with bovine tuberculosis (bTB) and how to prevent it without killing badgers.
May talked about the documentary and addressed the suspicions people might have had in the beginning.
“I don’t blame people for being suspicious of me in the beginning, because, you know, I’m a guitarist,” he explained. “You know I’m a rock star. What am I doing? Why would I have some contribution to make?”
“I came in to save the badgers. I now realize that to save the badgers, you have to save everybody because it’s a mess. It’s a tragic human drama where people’s hearts are broken,” he added.
The Queen guitarist’s documentary, ‘Brian May: The Badgers, The Farmers And Me,’ follows his four-year effort to fight the disease.
The documentary is hosted by May and it features various viewpoints on bovine tuberculosis (bTB). It includes stories like that of a farmer who lost his entire herd to the disease and highlights the plight of badgers. May now hopes to convince the farming community that he has found the real cause of the disease and that this could lead to changes in their policies.
The 60-minute show is set to air on Friday, August 23, at 9 p.m. on BBC Two and BBC Two Wales.
