The ambassadorship doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as the 27-year-old went viral for his attendance at Dior’s Fall Winter 24-25 Paris Fashion Week show and has shown his love for the brand online.
Seventeen‘s Mingyu has officially been tapped for the role of Dior ambassador, the luxury fashion house announced Tuesday morning.
The 27-year-old K-pop star has had a growing presence in the world of luxury fashion and beauty over the last year, attending a recent Dior show and Bulgari events, along with starring in a recent L’Occitane spot in Asia.
Dior officially announced Mingyu as a brand ambassador through a series of social media posts. The first of which refers to the performer as “the perfect embodiment of Dior’s aesthetic,” shown wearing a burgundy Oblique suit by Dior men’s creative director Kim Jones.
The subsequent posts go on to refer to Mingyu as an “international man of style” and “the perfect embodiment of audacity and creativity,” showing the global star in two other Kim Jones designs. The 27-year-old joins BTS’ Jimin, Natalie Portman, Blackpink’s Jisoo and Rosalía in Dior’s ambassador ranks.
The news of Mingyu’s latest gig came on the same day as his K-pop group Seventeen’s latest U.S. tour announcement. The 13-member group is slated to hit five cities, including stops at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles and Bay Area venue the Oakland Arena, on their “Seventeen [Right Here] World Tour.” The tour is tied to a new EP from the group, expected to drop in October.
Mingyu, along with the other members of Seventeen, just made history as the first K-pop group to perform at the iconic main stage at Glastonbury Festival. The group is also headlining the upcoming Lollapalooza Berlin.
