After Skid Row announced that Lzzy Hale joined them as the new lead singer, Sebastian Bach responded to the news by unfollowing Hale.
Lzzy replaced Erik Grönwall as the new Skid Row vocalist. The Halestorm frontwoman recently shared the following statement about what Skid Row means to her on Instagram:
“This is totally wild! I can’t believe my VHS audition tape finally made it in the mail! (I kid, I kid) I started listening to Skid Row when I was a teenager growing up on the East Coast in central Pennsylvania. They were one of the only bands at that time that truly bridged the gap for my love of ’80s big choruses and riffs but had the same poignant dirt and grime that was seeping into the cracks of my mind during the ’90s.”
Skid Row Influenced Hale
She went on to explain how Skid Row helped her become a rocker:
“By the early ’00s, Halestorm was well coming into its own, inspired by these powerful songs that helped me unlock a door within myself as a young musician. I can say without a second thought that if it weren’t for Skid Row in my bones, I would not be the rocker I am today. And this summer, my world turns full circle. Because not only am I able to share the stage as acting front person for this integral band, but even more importantly, I get to call these boys my chosen family.”
Skid Row Members Are Lifelong Friends Of Her
Hale also talked about Skid Row members’ support to her during her difficult times:
“No matter how much we both tour or how much time has gone by…we light up when we see each other. They have seen me through my rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, all while cheering me on. Time, space, history, age… are all relative, irrelevant, and elastic cuz we are all just astronauts cut from the same cloth, worshipping the same magic that is this music. I’m so grateful for their support of me in my career, and as a fellow human. Love you guys! There will be blood left on the stage!”
Although her post did not mention Bach, Bach seems to have lost track of Lzzy. Hale is still a follower of Sebastian on Instagram. Lzzy didn’t share anything on Twitter and Bach still continues to follow her there.
Grönwall Wanted To Focus On His Health
Earlier this week, Skid Row announced that Grönwall left the band to take care of his health. After winning his fight against leukemia, his immune system weakened. So, his health condition made it hard for him to tour. Erik wrote in a statement:
“It takes a while to build up that resistance again, but my immune system is getting stronger every day. However, I’m still doing regular checkups (blood tests) at the hematology department in Sweden, which has proved challenging while keeping up with the Skid Row schedule. I have way too much respect for my medical history to push myself to the limit.”
Hale’s first show with Skid Row will be on May 17 in Carterbille, Illinois. She will then front the band for three more gigs: May 18, May 31, and June 1.
