In a recent chat with his followers on X, Liam Gallagher disclosed that he recruited his son Gene’s band as the opening act for the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour.
Gene started his own band called Villanelle this year, with him on vocals and guitar. A user on the platform asked the singer:
“Liam, what do you think of Gene’s band? I like them!”
Liam went on to share his thoughts on his son’s band:
“They’re good. I’m gonna put them on 1st for DM tour.”
Liam’s Response To Being The Best Father
Another fan commented after hearing this news:
“Best dad ever.”
The rocker responded:
“I wouldn’t go that far, but I’m the best 1 he’s got.”
Other supporting acts for the tour are Cast and The View. Villanelle hasn’t released any music yet, but they supported Overpass on a recent tour. They also had a show at King Tut’s in Glasgow on March 21.
Will Noel Gallagher Join The ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour?
In June, Liam will start his 30th anniversary ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour in Sheffield. He’ll play all of Oasis’ hit album. In a February chat with MOJO, the rocker revealed that a large sum of money was offered to Noel Gallagher for a reunion. He shared how Noel responded:
“I did call him! Well, my people called Noel’s management team. We put an offer on the table for an Oasis thing – because we got offered it – and he said no. It was a big tour and a lot of money. He turned it down. I get it; he’s got a divorce going down. I’ll do the Definitely Maybe thing and have a nice time without him.”
Villanelle will continue to tour in April with Pastel and Seb Lowe. In 2018, Gene also put together a three-piece band called Grimmo. In 2019, he played with his dad on ‘Later… with Jools Holland,’ and also recorded bongos for the song ‘One Of Us’ on the album ‘Why Me? Why Not.’
