In a recent Instagram post, Brian Head Welch shared that he tested for COVID after feeling sick.
The guitarist posted a negative COVID test and wrote:
“Can’t believe we still test for Covid, I thought we were way past this, but at least the test was negative, so guess I have the flu or food poisoning. If I look tired tonight, Berlin, it’s not because I’m bored.”
How Did Welch Deal With COVID?
In an old episode of the Provoke & Inspire podcast, Welch talked about how he’s been handling the coronavirus pandemic. He said:
“It’s been really amazing. ‘Cause all this uncertainty happened: ‘What are we gonna do?’ And all these opportunities came to work on music. My heart goes out to the ones that are struggling right now, but as for me, it’s worked out pretty well, and I’m very thankful. I’m just praying for everyone to get through this. And God’s just been showing me that he’s got it. Just like last time.”
COVID’s Impact On Korn
Later, on the Talk Toomey podcast, Welch also reflected on his and his Korn bandmates’ experience touring the U.S. this past summer during the pandemic. The musician explained:
“It’s crazy, because it’s a serious thing. I know people — young people I even know — that have died from COVID. So it’s a serious issue. But you’ve gotta live, man. We’ve gotta get this world… We can’t let our country crumble. So we got out there. And our fans needed us. People need live music; they need that inspiration. And so we just were, like, ‘Let’s go out there and do it, and no matter what comes against us, we’ll keep going.’ And I’m, like, ‘Look, if it’s not meant to be, we’ll be back home. If it’s not meant to be, then it won’t work.’ But every time somebody got COVID, we just kept going.”
He added:
“Jonathan [Davis, KORN singer] was the most safe dude on the tour with his girlfriend. And they were just, like, away from everybody; I barely saw him. And it was with a mask and all that. So it was crazy [that he ended up testing positive for COVID-19].”
Korn singer Jonathan Davis previously tested positive for COVID-19. Then, the band postponed six dates and canceled two on their 2021 U.S. tour. Later, guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer and drummer Ray Luzier also got COVID-19, missing shows and being temporarily replaced by other musicians.
