WARNING! The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine!
Deadpool & Wolverine brought some of the most popular X-Men and Marvel characters back to the big screen for one last hoorah, as the titular heroes finally join the MCU. Among the plethora of cameos and surprise appearances, star and co-writer Ryan Reynolds still made room for his family to get in on the fun. Teased in the second trailer, actress Blake Lively (who is married to Reynolds) plays Lady Deadpool, and two of their children play Kidpool and Babypool. The pair met while working together on the critically lambasted Green Lantern way back in 2012, and Reynolds couldn’t help but gush about getting to work with her again on his latest movie.
Reynolds appeared on the Not Skinny But Not Fat Podcast where he discussed the recently released Deadpool & Wolverine. During the conversation, Reynolds was asked about Lady Deadpool’s appearance in the film and the speculation surrounding who might be playing the role. The internet was ablaze with rumors, as some believed that Taylor Swift was playing the part, while others thought Reynolds himself would voice the variant.
Deadpool & Wolverine
A follow-up to the highly successful Deadpool and Deadpool 2 films starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth. The third film will be the first in the franchise to be developed under the Marvel Studios banner following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.

After revealing that Blake Lively plays Lady Deadpool, Reynolds talked about how freeing it felt to finally be able to discuss the film’s spoilers, and he had nothing but praise for his wife and co-star. Reynolds said:
“It’s so weird. I feel nauseous even saying something like that out loud. All I do is keep secrets. I mean it was sort of, yeah, it was kind of one of those things where you’re like, ‘Well, why not?’ I mean, go for it, of course. I mean, we’re all there together anyway. Let’s go nuts. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Yeah, she did love it. And she’s one of the funniest people I know.”
Blake Lively Reveals How Her Deadpool & Wolverine Cameo Happened
While Blake Lively’s cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine is just one of the film’s many fun Easter eggs and nods to the character’s penchant for breaking the fourth wall, for Lively, it was 12 years in the making. In a social media post after the film’s release, the actress gave some insight into how that cameo actually came about. Lively said that Reynolds couldn’t stop talking about a comic book character he’d read whilst the pair worked on Green Lantern, years before the Deadpool movie went into production.
In 2010 I was on Gossip Girl and about to film my first superhero movie, The Green Lantern with my kind Canadian costar @vancityreynolds He told me, our other costar, another superhero newby @taikawaititi and all of us about @deadpoolmovie for the first time. It was a “meta” superhero. Most of us didn’t know what exactly meta meant back then. Except Taika bc he’s always been more brilliant than the rest of us mortals. We understood in theory, but how it would come together for an audience was murky, for everyone but him. It wasn’t a real dream. The movie was never gonna happen.
Just before all this in 2010, @robliefeld drew an unmasked Lady Deadpool for the first time, go to the next slide for his words. @deadpoolmovie wasn’t real. And Rob had no idea I was working with @vancityreynolds
12 years later I read Rob’s post. A year after that, @deadpoolmovie 3 was filmed. And today it’s in theaters. The universe has such a magical sense of humor sometimes.”

Deadpool & Wolverine Has So Many Cameos That Even Ryan Reynolds Missed One
Deadpool & Wolverine is a cameo spectacular like no other, but even this one slipped past the man himself.
Despite Deadpool & Wolverine already being a major box office success, the characters’ futures in the MCU are uncertain. While both heroes survived their face off with the TVA and Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), there has been no word from Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman (who plays Wolverine) about returning for another outing.
Some fans speculate that the film’s use of the multiverse and branching timelines may give other actors a chance to play Wolverine in the future, with many wanting Henry Cavill to star in a standalone film. There is a chance that Reynolds and Jackman could return for more MCU shenanigans, and Blake Lively’s Lady Deapool could play a much larger role in future movies.
