The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power unleashed a barnstorming trailer at SDCC, showcasing the deep lore of Middle Earth being incorporated into the new season of the Tolkein-based Prime Video series. After a less than stunning reaction from audiences to Season 1, the series showrunners promised that Season 2 would be more connected to the world of Tolkien that fans know and love, and it seems they are delivering on that promise.
The trailer for Season 2 delivers new looks at returning characters such as Galadriel, the Stranger, the Harefoots, and Sauron, who begins his ascent to power and brings war to Middle Earth. However, there are some big surprises also revealed, as along with a better look at Rory Kinnear’s Tom Bombadil, there are also teases of the return of the Balrog, Shelob the spider, and even what could be a showing from Treebeard the Ent.
Check out the trailer and see the new chapter in Middle Earth evolve.
Fans took no time in showing their appreciation for the return of the series, despite the thrashing it took previously. This time around, it looks like there are many who have been given everything they want and more in the trailer.
The Rings of Power Season 2 Debuts September on Prime Video
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and takes viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
Created by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power features a large ensemble cast that includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Míriel, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Owain Arthur as Durin IV, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Córdova as Arondir, Ben Daniels as Círdan, Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Kevin Eldon as Narvi, Ciarán Hinds as an Istar, Rory Kinnear as Tom Bombadil, Daniel Weyman as the Stranger, and more.

How The Rings of Power Showrunners Listened to Fans’ Feedback to Shape Season 2
The Rings of Power Season 2 has refined its narrative with insight gained from audience reactions, according to showrunners.
One of the most exciting (and possibly controversial) new additions is the introduction of Tom Bombadil. Played by Men star Rory Kinnear, the beloved character is surrounded in mystery, and has largely been left out of adaptations. And J.D. Payne thinks he knows why…
“There’s a reason why he hasn’t been in prior adaptations, because in some ways he’s sort of an anti-dramatic character. He’s not a character who has a particularly strong agenda. He observes drama, but largely doesn’t participate in it. In The Fellowship of the Ring, the characters kind of just go there and hang out for a while, and Tom drops some knowledge on them.”
