On Friday, July 26, the tennis champion and three-time Olympic medalist were spotted making their way to the opening ceremony of the Paris Games, where they’re set to serve as flagbearers during the Parade of Nations.
Although Paris has been dealing with rainy weather all day long as tons of celebrity attendees prepare for the opening ceremony, Gauff, 20, and James, 39, came prepared to protect their red, white and blue blazers. In a video shared jointly to Team USA and the U.S. Tennis Association’s Instagram accounts, the pair could be seen sporting clear plastic ponchos over their uniforms, and Gauff held a book over her head to protect her hair and makeup look.
