Season 3 of Bridgerton was yet another massive hit for Netflix, and its ending had fans speculating about who would take center stage in Season 4. Wait no longer, as the streamer has confirmed that the next season will focus on Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed in the series by Luke Thompson. After exploring Daphne and Simon in Season 1, Anthony and Kate in Season 2, and Penelope and Colin in Season 3, it’s now time for the second Bridgerton son to get his time in the spotlight, in what promises to be another steamy entry in the acclaimed series.
Per The Wrap, Season 4 of Bridgerton will examine the restless Benedict as he bucks the tradition of settling down in favor of exploring his own sexuality. Can anyone tame this wild horse? Maybe, as the official synopsis teases a chance meeting with someone who could possibly reign in Benedict and his raging hormones. Check it out below.
“The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson). Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
Bridgerton Can Expect To Face Some Backlash if It Continues Deviating From the Novels
Bridgerton
From Shondaland and creator Chris Van Dusen, Netflix’s Bridgerton is based on the romance novels of the same name by author Julia Quinn. The series follows the eight Bridgerton siblings, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth, as they search for love during the social season and navigate life in Regency-era England.

Fans will note that Season 3 of Bridgerton featured a breathtaking threesome between Benedict, Lady Tilley Arnold, and her lover, Paul Suarez, which could lead to the series deviating from Julia Quinn’s books for one of its major plots. In the novels, Benedict ends up with Sophie, but based on what showrunner Jess Brownell told The Wrap, that might not be the case in this instance.
“The introduction of Sophie is definitely still in the cards, but we are going to continue to explore his fluidity.”
Season 3 of Bridgerton saw Lady Tilley offer Benedict the chance to be in a monogamous relationship, but the stallion rebuked her proposal as he’s still unsure of himself, his sexuality, and where he wants his life to go. It’s a universal theme that begs for more exploration, something that Brownell says audiences will definitely get in the next season.
“This is not the end of that storyline. As any fluid person knows, fluidity is a part of your identity, whether or not you end up with a man, a woman or a nonbinary person.”
Could this lead to Benedict Bridgerton ending up with another man? It’s definitely a possibility, as the series does differ from Quinn’s novels in many respects, so a same-sex coupling could feature prominently going forward. If that’s the case, Bridgerton can expect to face some backlash from certain audience members who are still living in the Stone Age.

The sex in Bridgerton isn’t limited to what fans see in the series, as hopeful actors looking for a shot at fame go to the extreme to be cast.
Just look at what happened with the HBO series The Last of Us when it focused on the relationship between Bill and Frank for a single episode. Apparently, seeing two men in love with one another was enough to melt the sensitive snowflakes who promised that they would never watch the show again. Their loss, right?
Thankfully, Bridgerton’s audience seems to have more of an open mind when it comes to sexuality, so the series will undoubtedly continue its winning ways and be yet another hit for Netflix, despite the loud voice of a select few who will surely come at it with pitchforks. There’s no word yet on when Season 4 of Bridgerton will go into production, but we’ll have more news on the coming season as it becomes available.
