The Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong made fun of Hulk Hogan’s speech to endorse Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday night.
The singer shared a video on his Instagram story where Hogan’s speech is compared to the 2006 film, ‘Idiocracy.’ At the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Hogane wore a blue suit, red bandanna, and his famous mustache, gave an energetic speech, and ripped his shirt to show a Trump/Vance Red Hulk Hogan T-shirt.
Hulk said the following about the upcoming elections:
“He’s going to win in November and when he does we’re all going to be champions again. He’s been the greatest patriot and he still is. He’s always said exactly what he thinks, and regardless of the odds, he always finds a way to win.”
The wrestler was a surprise speaker on the last day of the event. He spoke to the crowd just before Trump gave his first public speech since an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Hogan added:
“After the attempt on his life last week, enough is enough. Let’s let Trumpamania run wild, brother. Let’s make America great again.”
Armstrong Isn’t A Fan Of Trump
Armstrong is known to be an anti-Trump. In January, on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, Green Day changed the lyrics of their song ‘American Idiot’ to criticize the former President. Billie replaced ‘I’m not a part of a redneck agenda’ with ‘I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.’
The band has criticized Trump before. They first used the anti-MAGA lyrics in 2019 at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Earlier, at the 2016 American Music Awards, they shouted ‘No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA’ during their performance of ‘Bang Bang.’
After Hogan’s speech, ‘Idiocracy,’ which imagines a future where Americans are so foolish they water plants with sports drinks, became popular on political X. People compared Hogan to the movie’s fictional president, played by Terry Crews. Comments on X noted how close reality seems to the movie’s absurd world.
