Dave Grohl has the support of Joe Bonamassa in his recent public diss against Taylor Swift.
The guitarist reposted Grohl’s video while he mocked Swift and wrote in the caption:
“Rock and Roll is not dead.”
Grohl’s Words On Swift
The Foo Fighters frontman teased Swift, saying her band doesn’t play live at their concerts. He made these remarks during Foo Fighters’ sold-out show at London Stadium on June 22, while Swift was performing at Wembley Stadium, just 15 miles away. Grohl said:
“I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’ We’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few f*cking errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying! You guys like raw, live rock’n’roll music, right? You came to the right f*cking place.”
Swift responded to the rocker the next night:
“Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band, who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
Alex Skolnick Also Defended Grohl
Bonamassa isn’t the first musician who raised his support for Grohl. Alex Skolnick shared a user’s comment where they saw Dave’s clip and didn’t find it mean-spirited. It seemed like he was joking around with the crowd, not intending harm. The guitarist wrote in his reply:
“100%. Dave was making fun of both his own show and Taylor’s. Yes, her musicians – some of whom I’ve met – all play live BUT there is also much slick pop production, pre-tracking etc that mistakes are easier to hide, while his show is only guys playing rock and roll live. His comment was good-natured – the only thing not smart about it was the lack of foresight about the internet hive mind-heard mentality.”
Someone commenting on Skolnick’s tweet was shocked by how mean and two-faced Grohl’s fans could be. Skolnick agreed, likening it to Bernie Sanders’ supporters who sometimes act aggressively, even though Sanders himself isn’t like that.
