In a recent Instagram post, Lzzy Hale revealed she received death threats for being open about her sexuality.
The Halestorm singer shared a post to celebrate Pride Month and wrote in the caption:
“Happy Pride FREAKS! To live an honest life is the definition of freedom. And by existing as your truest self you open the door for others, showing them that it’s possible to Be THEIR truest self. It sounds counter intuitive, but when you break away from the path and embrace the one of a kind beauty that is YOU, you end up finally attracting the right people. You become a lighthouse for all the other misfit ships that are lost at sea.”
It Wasn’t An Easy Experience For Hale
She shared her own experiences:
“You find your tribe and the people who let you shine. I’ve experienced this firsthand. Speaking specifically as a person with a fan base, the decision to expose myself and live unapologetically came with fresh, uncharted problems. But the rewards, and deeper connections with my fans far out weigh the buzzing annoyances of the fair weather ‘opinions’ of the uninformed masses. The loud voices of the ignorant often deter us from living authentically.”
Hale advised not to worry about what others say about you:
“But their words are only a reflection of their own fear. They are stuck, so afraid of what would happen if THEY would decide to live authentically. This is Not a YOU problem, it’s a THEM problem. Don’t waste your precious time on what people say about who YOU are. A lioness pays no mind to the opinions of sheep. I am a firm believer that you can be fanatically loved, or maniacally hated but neither is important, and neither one of these boxes that we spend our lives trying to empty or fill matter at all in the grand scheme of LIFE.”
Lzzy Faced Many Bad Things
The frontwoman further reflected on what she encountered when she revealed her sexuality:
“The ebb and flow of the masses changes constantly, it is a waste of soul-feeding energy to chase it. As an openly bisexual woman, my journey to the light has been littered by fear, confusion, ugly remarks, death threats, and the wild ideas of small minds. But what I have gained by peeling back the layers and exposing my soul is happiness!”
Lzzy also said it is important to embrace all parts of yourself:
“How I choose to live, love and chase joy is my adventure, no one else’s. I have given myself permission to be flawed and ALL of me. Whether you are out and loud or quietly celebrating the colorful world you create for yourself. Remember you owe nothing to this world but you owe everything to YOU. YOU’RE STILL HERE in spite of everything! You are a valid part of the big bizarre plan. Trust it. Trust Yourself. I see you. I love you.”
In June 2022, Hale shared on social media during Pride Month that she’s proudly bisexual. She encouraged others to embrace their uniqueness. She emphasized the importance of being true to oneself and celebrating every aspect of who you are, whether it’s good, bad, colorful, or queer.
